How does the policy work?

• You select how much benefit you need and for how long.
• Cover can be up to a maximum of 50% of your gross earnings if you are employed or 50% of the net profit from your business if you are self employed.
• You can claim if you satisfy the definition of disability as set out in your policy.
• For most occupations the definition used is 'You are unable by reason of illness or injury to perform the material and substantial duties of your occupation'. 'Material and substantial duties' means those duties normally required to carry out your occupation which cannot reasonably be omitted or modified by you or your employer.
• UnumProvident will verify your claim and pay a monthly tax free income to you until you are able to return to work, you reach the end of your chosen term of cover, or you die, whichever is earlier.
